Unanswered Prayers

There's a country song that's been around for a little while that I really like. However, I don't know the title of it, and I don't know who sings it. But one of the lines of the chorus goes something like:

Thank God, for unanswered prayers...

That's what kept running through my mind last night and today as I read The Brown Baby Blog. Thank you God for knowing in Your infinite wisdom what is best!

I don't know if it's the same song, but Garth Brooks had one about unanswered prayers:

"Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers "

I've always thought it was a cool way of looking at things. Along the lines of something I blogged about some time ago about traveling paths and sometimes bad things have to happen for us to appreciate what we have.

I'll slink off now and try to maintain my hip, urban facade.

Yes, that's the one! I didn't remember that he's the one who sung it. But that whole "unanswered prayers" thing has been running through my head for the past two days...

Don't worry, I won't tell your hip, urban friends that you know the lyrics to country music. Just like I won't tell them you've been singing Itsy Bitsy Spider even when your son ISN'T with you... Oh, wait, that was ME!
