Allergy drainage has settled in my lungs and trying to turn into bronchitis. I feel icky. What kind of person gets bronchitis in the middle of summer? I've been coughing for a week straight. I'm coughing so much I sound like a seal barking; if I'm not careful, someone's going to call Sea World and tell them one of their animals got loose! Nyquil isn't helping; ditto for Dayquil. Any suggestions on a good OTC remedy for nasty, congested-chest coughing? I'd really rather stay away from the doctor's office, though!
I'm just glad I'm sick when Jamie isn't here. I don't have the energy to chase him around! Speaking of Jamie, he was crying again on the phone last night. Since I'm sick anyway and won't be going out with friends as previously planned, I told him I'd come get him Friday night instead of Saturday. He's fine during the day, but at night he misses me "terriblesome" as he says. Poor baby!

You could try Delsym. It's the strongest OTC I've seen. It's in an orange box with blue letters.
When I had bronchitis this spring, I had to get cough syrup with codeine. Which required a doctor's visit and some time off work, since that stuff will knock you out.
I've also got some bronchial coughing going on. Steve says I got it from him. Mucinex (sp?) is a good strong cough medicine. It really helped me with a cough a couple of years ago. It'd be helping now except I forgot I had it and now it's at home.
I'm glad Everett remembered Mucinex--I hope he gets around to taking it himself. I'm not sure about the spelling, either. It is fantastic. Yen fixed me up at the Plum Tree one time with a hot toddie--tasted wonderful, worked pretty well, but not as good as Mucinex. Love you.
Is Mucinex prescription only? Or is it OTC? I'm really trying to avoid the doctor (although, it took all I had to get out of bed and get here today... maybe a dr's visit is in my near future...)
It doesn't help that I was up til after midnight reading. Cough kept me from sleeping anyway, so I figured I'd better do something I enjoy!
Sorry you're feeling icky, too, Everett!
As far as I know it was OTC when we bought it. Mom might know since she bought it.
Great. Thanks! I'll go to the store and get some on my lunch break!
Got some Mucinex on my lunch break. Took one at home. Not much difference yet. However, I only took one seeing as how I didn't want to have any weird side-effects at work. I'll take two tonight before bed and let ya'll know tomorrow how I'm feeling.
Thanks!!!!!!
Did you have a better night?
