Crafty Persons, HELP!

One thing I forgot to mention in my first post today: Jamie wants to be a character from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" for Halloween. He wanted to be Aang, but I couldn't find a latex bald-cap to put on him. Anyway, he's decided to be a character called "The Blue Spirit". But I have to make him a mask like this one:

Any suggestions from you crafty people? I thought about papier-mache, but I'm not quite sure how to create the ridges and such. Any ideas on how to make this mask?

My suggestion: poster board (try it on that first, then maybe foam board), with eye holes where the diamond/cat eyes are on the face. Then if you want to add paper mache (can't spell that either), add it to the poster board. But then what do I know about stuff like that? I've made a Christmas tree, a tree with a bird's nest in it, and a Hershey's kiss, but that's about all, I think. Good luck!

You can get some really cool flat foam stuff (I don't know what it's called), but it comes in a variety of colors. I'm sure you could find it at a craft store like Michaels or Jo-Anns or even at Wal-Mart. You can cut it with regular scissors. I'm thinking you could cut out the base in one color, cut out shapes in the lighter color and glue it down, and put something under it as you attach it for te ridges and such. Quick and easy.

I'm thinking maybe modeling clay.... let me let that percolate some more....

but thanks for the suggestions!

You can also roll bits of newspaper into little snakes to add to your mask base, and paper mache over them to make them smooth and to add layers.

Oh boy, this is not my territory, Jenn. Wish I could offer suggestions, though!

I vote that we let Geron do it. He doesn't have much else to do!
