The Chronicles of Illness: The Woman, the Soup and the Ice Cream!

Last night I was feeling a mite peak'ed (as my Granny used to say), so I curled up on the couch and watched The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe on Pay-Per-View with a large bowl of chicken noodle soup - Jamie calls it Chicken Doodle soup. After the soup was gone, my throat still hurt, so I chased the soup with some Ben & Jerry's Dublin Mudslide ice cream. I'd never had it before, but was sure that anything that combined coffee, Irish Creme liqueur, chocolate chip cookies and gooey fudge HAD to be delicious. I was right!

Anywhoo, back to the movie. I have always justly stated that movies cannot do justice to the books they are attempting to "bring to life". As if your imagination can't do that when you read! However, I also try to enjoy the movies on their own merit and try not to compare the two. That being said, I wonder why so many people (and apparently the movie studios) completely skip over the first book The Magician's Nephew. Well, regardless, Chronicles was greatly enjoyed by me last night. In fact, I think the movie brought home to me more the symbolism deeply entrenched in the book. And yet, my fingers were itching to find my set of the books to go back and read them. However, they are still in a box somewhere, I was feeling bad, and knew I would only feel worse if I stayed up all night reading. So I left the books in the box. But somehow I still didn't make it to bed until almost midnight.

Sorry this one is so short, folks. Today is the day I have to turn in all the payroll stuff, so I have to concentrate lest I mess up anybody's paycheck. I'll be around throughout the day, though!

I think they did that movie first because it was the most popular of the books, just to be sure they could get the audience, before they do the rest of them. I think they're gonna do the rest later. Kind of like with Star Wars, sort of. But I don't actually know this kind of stuff, I just think I heard something like that somewhere.

Prince Caspian is in production, I believe. From a story-line perspective The Magician's Nephew is first but it was 6th in the order they were published. It's also possibly less cinematic than LWD and considered not as good a beginner for the movie series.

When I have a sore throat I like eating Edy's Swiss Orange Sherbet. It's orange with chocolate chips. It's probably my second favorite non-chocolate ice cream after cookies and cream.

Yes, PC is in production. They are looking at a Christmas 2007 release date (I know this because I was just now surfing for the info). What a quinkydink!

I may have to try the Edy's sometime. No sore throat today, just feeling very tired and run down. I think that's partly because I miss Jamie. I get him back tomorrow afternoon. YAY!

Just got back from lunch. The soup du jour was Chicken and Sausage gumbo out of a can and a grilled cheese sandwich. Yummmmm!

LOL! I just noticed that, Ann. Good eye!

How did you wind up thinking you had invented Rocky Road Ice Cream? I love hearing your stories. Actually, I love hearing stories from everyone in your family. You guys are all born storytellers!

I don't think of pyrox cookie crumbs as chocolate. Maybe chocolatish. Essentially if there's no chocolate in the ice cream, what are you eating it for?

Good point! There's no point, in my opinion, in eating much of anything that isn't chocolate!

Unless you're David Meadors, and then you had better not be eating any chocolate at all.

Right. I forgot about that! BTW - I added a link on ROUS-es to the food allergy and anaphylactic network website. They have recipes and stuff, too. I remember when Jamie was a baby he was allergic to eggs, and that website was the only place I could find a recipe for an egg-less birthday cake! So they may have some yummy recipes that taste like chocolate but don't have chocolate in them.

Love you! How's the leg?
