I'm in Trouble (or... I Hate Math)

I'm in trouble folks. See, I hate math. I hate math so much that I have a mental block about it. Can't even properly balance a checkbook (but I can balance the books at work just fine - imagine that). So, anyway, this person who hates math so much is taking an intermediate algebra course, because I didn't score high enough on the test to take a regular math course, which I wouldn't choose to take to begin with, but I have to as it's required for my program. Anyway, in this math course I'm currently taking, I have to take an exam. Today. But I don't really understand what I'm doing. So, please pray for me to gain enlightenment and understanding of math (well, of everything, actually) so that I don't make a big fat F on my exam today. I'm going to try to sneak some study time in today during work.

[sigh] I really, really, really, REALLY hate math.

Poor you. Here's the Pythagorian theorum in simple terms--maybe it will help.

Once upon a time, there was an old Indian chief named Pythagoras. The chief had three sons, whom he loved very much.

When the first one was old enough to get married, his father gave him a fine, deerskin tent. The young brave and his wife were very happy together and soon had their first son.

Soon it was time for the second son to take a wife. His father gave him a marvelous buffalo skin tent. He and his wife were also hapy and produced a second grandson for the old chief.

At last it was time for the youngest to marry. His father had been involved in some trading with the long knives, and presented this son a magnificent tent made of hippopotamus skin. We don't know if it was the exotic skin or what, but this son's wife produced twins.

The old chief liked to pontificate at the bonfire at night. As he mused about his sons and their offspring, he theorized that "The squaw of the hippopotamus equals the sum of the squaws of the other two hides." And so it is to this day.

Dear Jenn,

(Insert snarky comment about wasting valuable study time by blogging HERE: ________.)

Animal, it's easier to make blogging look like actual work than to spread textbooks all over desk prominently located in front reception area of business and convince boss I'm actually doing work related to my job.

And just so you know, I have been doing some studying by surfing the websites devoted to the mathematically challenged like myself. However, you're right. I have been avoiding doing further studying by blogging. Did I mention how much I detest math?

LOL!

How do you think you did on your exam today? When will you get the grade?

I was hoping that there would be a lot of questions on the exam so that I could at least beat the law of averages so to speak. No such luck. Only 20 questions on the exam. Methinks I'll be lucky to get a D on this one.

Lesson learned: procrastination works for stuff I'm good at. For subjects at which I suck, I better start preparing early.

No idea when I'll find out my grade.

You working from la casa today?

Si, senorita. Trabajo de mi casa hoy y manana.

I can't do the tilda for manana. Pretend it's there.

¡No hablamos español aqui!

¿Por qué no? ¡Escribir mis respuestas en español se está divirtiendo altamente!
