Stinkbumps truly..... stinks!

I don't know if it's something in the water, or the fact that my little Stinkbumps is not so little anymore, but he's getting stinky! I was sitting on the couch the other day, and kept smelling something that was a cross between burned motor oil and rotten cabbage. A quick "pit check" reassured me that I was not the source of the odor. Then I smelled the dog - nope, it wasn't him (although he was getting that dirty dog smell).

I imagined myself in one of those Pepe LePeu cartoons where one follows the odor trail wafting through the air. Well, I followed it, and it led me to Jamie! It appears that showering every night is no longer enough. Lest I damage already sensitive feelings, I carefully broached the subject of using anti-perspirant and deodorant with my son. He had used in a few times during the summer on days I knew it would be triple-digit weather, but had never had to use it on a daily basis. He does now.

I was under the impression that kids don't hit puberty until they are pre-teens. Jamie's only 8! Will I be teaching him how to shave at 10? And what about eating? My brother didn't start pigging out until he was about 13 or 14. But Jamie can (and often does) eat half of an extra-large pizza, 4 bread sticks and a large glass of milk in one sitting. Then half an hour later he comes to me hungry again. He grew a little more than an inch in one month! Yikes!

Guess I better start saving money now so I can afford to feed him when he IS a teenager!

I can't believe he is really stinky. I don't think I've ever encountered that with little folks before. Had he been outside playing all day? I'd sure hate to see what he is going to grow into, if he's already starting his growth spurt!

Unfortunately, he truly is stinky. But he is most "aromatic" after playing hard or if he "forgot" to take a shower the night before. But it may be genetic; if I think back to when I was still with his biological father, I believe there were a few times I noticed that same smell, but assumed it was on his clothes from his work (an auto shop). Now I'm wondering if it wasn't just him! So lots of showers for Jamie, and a large supply of Degree anti-perspirant.

As for the height thing, he turned 8 in January, and already comes up to about my arm-pit. I believe he's 4'3" or so. If I can ever figure out how to do it, I'll post a picture of "Stinkbumps".
